Self-Esteem - Your fundamental Power

Author: Caroline Myss (available at the public library)

Reviewer: Melinda Calway

Caroline Myss on her CD book Self-Esteem-Your fundamental Power defines self-esteem as “the manifestation of our spirit engaged in action in our life”. She talks about how our spiritual energy of self esteem enhances the quality of our life, health relationships & creativity. She goes on to explain how we co-create our reality. In this audio book, Caroline Myss had me captivated with her ideas, her passion for the subject matter and how true it resonated in me. I couldn’t stop listening.

Do we need the approval of others? What are our worst fears? Do we judge others? Can we survive the unknown? Ever wonder why or why not? Did you know that self esteem influences our relationship with our self?  This in-depth book, on compact disc, read by the author delves into these questions and more.

Myss talks about how heaven travels and works invisibly through life. In this context, humble self esteem is the genuine ability to be invisible i.e. to do good without the need for recognition (no need to show off). She points out how our entire life revolves around choice & love…what do we present to the outside world? If we had a healthy self-esteem would we need to drive fancy cars or wear designer clothes to feel good about ourselves? If we chose love would we hurt one another?

According to Myss we are the generation that is bringing spirituality into the mainstream. She says spiritual development is not about finding the rules; it’s about living the rules to follow our own potential and direct our energies in a positive way. This sounds a tad like what we are talking about at St. Mark’s to me!

I found this a very powerful current, literary accomplishment that spoke to me in words that were easy to comprehend.

Get this book on CD from the public library to find out how, in Myss’ view, our spirits are evolving and why we need to take responsibility for our self-esteem and our core power.
